This policy explains what S. Sparham Electrical does with the information you provide through this website.
Cookies
This website sets one kind of cookie, and only if you say yes to it. When you first arrive you are asked whether we may count your visit using Google Analytics. Nothing is stored on your device unless you press Accept.
If you press Accept, Google Analytics sets cookies that let it recognise the same browser across pages and on a later visit, so we can see how many separate people used the site rather than how many pages were opened. If you press Reject, no analytics cookie is set. Google is still told, anonymously and without anything being stored on your device, that a page was viewed — that is what keeps the visitor count roughly honest — but nothing links that to you or to any later visit.
Either way, none of this is used for advertising, none of it follows you to other websites, and the site behaves exactly the same. Your answer is remembered in your browser's own storage rather than in a cookie, because using a cookie to record that you would rather not have cookies would be a strange way to go about it.
You can change your answer at any time, which brings the question back. Clearing your browsing data also clears it.
Visitor statistics
We record basic statistics about how the site is used: which pages are viewed, which page a visitor arrived from, and when the call or WhatsApp buttons are pressed. Two separate things do this.
Our own visitor counter, run for us by Innov8 Workflows who built and look after this website, runs on every visit. It stores no cookie and no identifier, so return visits are not linked together and no profile is built.
Google Analytics runs only if you accepted cookies, as described above. It tells us how many people came, roughly whereabouts they were, which pages they read and which buttons they pressed. It does not tell us who you are, we have turned off the advertising features, and your IP address is shortened by Google before it is stored.
As with any website, our provider's server can see the IP address a request came from.
The enquiry form
The form on this site does two things when you press the button.
First, it opens WhatsApp on your device with your message already written out. Nothing goes to us through WhatsApp until you press send there, and at that point it reaches us through WhatsApp in the ordinary way, under WhatsApp's own terms.
Second, it sends what you typed into the form to our own lead record, so an enquiry is not lost if WhatsApp fails to open or you change your mind. That record holds your name, phone number, the service you selected, your area and your message. It is kept in a spreadsheet we control, it triggers an email alert to us, and it is stored in the customer record system Innov8 Workflows run for us.
If you would rather not have that happen, call or message us directly on 07557 448945 instead.
Contacting us directly
If you call, message or email us, we hold the details you give us, such as your name, phone number, address and what you have told us about the job, so that we can quote for and carry out the work.
What we use it for
- Responding to your enquiry and providing a quote
- Carrying out work you have asked us to do
- Issuing and keeping certificates and records of work carried out
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to third parties for marketing.
Who else is involved
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads. That request includes your IP address.
- Google Sheets and Google Workspace hold the enquiry record and deliver the email alert.
- Innov8 Workflows built and maintain this website, and run the visitor counter and the customer record system on our behalf.
- Google Analytics counts visits, but only if you accepted cookies. Google acts as our processor for this and the data is held under Google's own terms.
- WhatsApp handles anything you send through it, under WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
We do not use advertising networks or social media tracking pixels, and Google Analytics runs here with its advertising features switched off.
Certificates and records
Electrical certificates and condition reports contain the property address and details of the installation. We keep copies as a record of the work carried out, as an electrician is expected to.
How long we keep it
Enquiry details are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any work that follows from it, plus the period required for tax, certification and insurance records.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Contact us on 07557 448945 or at stephen_sparham@hotmail.co.uk to do so.
